We are proud to share with all of T\u00fcrkiye the final version of the documentary, whose shooting began last year and was completed this year as part of the \u201cResponding to the Needs of the Earthquake Affected Individuals\u201d Project, implemented by ASAM in collaboration with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission in Ankara.<\/p>\n\n

On the anniversary of the August 17 earthquake, a milestone in Turkey\u2019s disaster history, a documentary aired on NTV brought to life by renowned documentarian Co\u015fkun Aral<\/strong> met with the audience. Produced by M\u00fcge Aral<\/strong> and shot by cinematographer Bar\u0131\u015f K\u0131l\u0131n\u00e7<\/strong>, the 45-minute documentary will be the first feature-length production supported by the Social Development and Aid Mobilization Association (SGDD-ASAM). <\/p>\n\n

Through the perspective of those who witnessed the events at the time, the documentary explores the shared history of disasters between the two countries that were struck by devastating earthquakes just a few months apart in 1999, the friendship born from these disasters, and the story of how Taiwan came to be a close neighbor in the Far East.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The documentary also features the first encounter in years between Po-Chun Huang, leader of the Taiwanese team that engaged in search & rescue operations in T\u00fcrkiye following the 1999 Marmara earthquake, and Assoc. Prof. Ferudun \u00c7elikmen, leader of the AKUT team who rescued a person from the rubble in Taiwan during the 1999 Nantou earthquake.<\/p>\n\n
