Promoting the Rights of Earthquake-Affected Children in Hatay through the Children’s Solidarity Committee (CSC) Project

The “Promoting the Rights of Earthquake-Affected Children in Hatay through the Children’s Solidarity Committee (CSC) Project”, carried out with the support of the German Embassy, seeks to promote children's access to their fundamental rights and raise public awareness regarding children’s rights.

Aiming to reach over 600 beneficiaries in total, the Project is being implemented at the Yayladağı Temporary Accommodation Center in Hatay.

Among the key components of the Project is facilitating the active involvement of earthquake-affected children residing in Hatay from both the asylum-seeker and host communities in decision-making mechanisms, with a particular focus on children’s rights, through the CSC. To this end, the engagement of parents or caregivers of beneficiary children, as well as the inclusion of organizations and institutions working in the area of children’s rights, is ensured.

As part of the Project, which aims to reach children from the age group of 7-18, activities are also organized for families who are indirect beneficiaries.

Other components of the Project include conducting a needs assessment on access to fundamental children’s rights, organizing regular CSC meetings, engaging in collaboration with local institutions and organizations to strengthen the capacity of the CSC, distributing “Child and Caregiver Kits”, and developing and implementing awareness-raising modules for project beneficiaries.
