ASAM, which promptly responded to the quake-stricken region immediately after the February 6 earthquake and actively participated in the search and rescue operations and humanitarian aid efforts, was honored with the “State Medal and Order of Supreme Sacrifice of the Republic of Türkiye” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The State Medal and Order of Supreme Sacrifice, recognizing ASAM’s active role in the affected region from the very first moment of the earthquake, was presented by Vice President Fuat Oktay (2018-2023) to Dog Training Specialist Kazım Ünal, representing the ASAM Disaster and Emergency Response Unit.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center, President Erdoğan stated, “It is a custom in our longstanding culture to acknowledge and reciprocate efforts, sacrifices, and acts of kindness.” Expressing his gratitude for their efforts in the earthquake-affected region, President Erdoğan emphasized that the search and rescue teams had instilled hope in everyone, including those with loved ones trapped beneath the rubble, during Türkiye’s greatest disaster.
