ASAM has taken the name Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization!

Türkiye’s largest non-governmental organization, ASAM, has been restructured. Amending its name to Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization, ASAM adopts a more inclusive and holistic approach and stands “in solidarity with all those in need of a helping hand!”

Maintaining its leading position among NGOs as the first local association to operate in the field of asylum since 1995, ASAM enhances and extends its 28 years of experience in the field of migration by addressing many fields related to migration.

Through the years, ASAM has harnessed a wealth of know-how and accumulated expertise and experience in a variety of fields, including but not limited to protection, needs assessment, education, livelihoods, health, awareness raising, social cohesion, disaster response, and emergency management, which are all essentially related to the main developmental concerns.

Being one of the most operational NGOs in the field of migration and asylum, ASAM has been conducting a range of activities, including identifying vulnerabilities and needs within asylum seeker and migrant communities, developing effective responses to these needs,  providing holistic protection interventions, irregular migration, facilitating access to information, academic research, extensive social cohesion activities, awareness raising, capacity building, and research, while also contributing to policy-making processes through national, regional and international coordination mechanisms.

While continuing to prioritize areas of activity related to migration as an integral component during the new period, the Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization is also aiming to form a more inclusive structure for the operations that will be conducted in the other areas of the development agenda with a rights-based perspective.

Undoubtedly, the Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization’s desire to broaden its area of activity stems from not only its extensive experience gained over the years, but also the current global, regional, and national developments that Türkiye and the world is facing, particularly in relation to the climate crisis.

The Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization will not only be expanding its working areas but will also be contributing more efficiently to the Sustainable Development Goals with the inclusion of necessary expertise within the organization, bearing in mind that planning is an essential process for good governance. For this purpose, the Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization has built its activities on 4 main pillars:

  • Migration
  • Sustainable Development
  • Empowerment of Vulnerable Groups and Protection
  • Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Response

The new logo of the Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization has been designed to underline these renewed areas of activity. Every color in the logo represents the 4 main pillars.

The blue color in the bottom left of the logo forming the basis represents MIGRATION, the green in the bottom right represents SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, the red in upper right represents HUMANITARIAN AID and DISASTER RESPONSE, and the orange in the upper left represents EMPOWERMENT OF VULNERABLE GROUPS and PROTECTION.

By keeping the “Protection” icon denoting two figures that have been used in the middle of the logo since 1995, it is emphasized that the Association will continue to build and develop its 30 years of experience.

Türkiye’s largest non-governmental organization, ASAM, will continue to be a bastion of solidarity for all those in need of a helping hand with a more inclusive and holistic approach.
