Refugee Protection, Community Outreach and Solutions in Urban Areas Project

With the “Refugee Protection, Community Outreach and Solutions in Urban Areas Project”, run with the collaboration of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), it is aimed to enable asylum seekers and refugees to gain access to complementary protection services offered by public institutions and organizations by assisting them in accessing rights and services.

Through 29 ASAM Field Offices, 3 ASAM Integrated Field Offices and mobile teams established in scope of the Project, asylum seekers and refugees are provided with information on the rights and services in Türkiye, are referred to relevant institutions and services, and the needs of vulnerable asylum seekers and refugees are met in cases of emergency.

Psychosocial support and protection services are offered to refugees and asylum seekers within the Project in 24 field offices. Apart from protection services offered in the Integrated Field Offices located in Adana, Gaziantep and Istanbul, social cohesion and community-based protection activities are also held with refugee committees. Solidarity groups, which convene in the Kayseri and Amasya field offices based on themes of women, youth and neighborhood committees, carry out social cohesion activities.

Teams that conduct mobile activities in Ankara, Izmir and Gaziantep reach refugees who have no access to ASAM offices and refer them to competent institutions and organizations based on the needs identified. “Mobile Teams” who operate in Izmir to follow-up irregular migration trends in the Aegean Region identify the basic needs of persons rescued during border crossings and provide interpretation assistance to law enforcement officers.

With the Project, ASAM carries out briefing and awareness raising activities for local institutions and other NGOs.
