The Program includes the implementation of learning, recreational and life skills programmes that are structured in accordance with UNICEF guidelines, and complementary to and supportive of the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) programmes. It is also sought to transform the programmes developed in line with the needs of the focus group into an effective framework on life skills. UNICEF provides School in a Box Kits and Recreational Kits so as to be used in the Multi-Purpose Learning Spaces set up for this purpose. Additionally, with the organization of UNICEF, the LEGO Foundation is distributing System Box kits in order to be used during activities.
The Program, which is implemented in Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Gaziantep, Istanbul, İzmir, Kayseri, Konya, Mersin and Şanlıurfa provinces, focuses on fostering children’s life skills and enabling that they reconnect with learning, thereby increasing their ability to adapt to daily life. The Program also engages children’s families, caregivers and the communities in which they live, raising educational awareness and supporting social cohesion processes.
The Program’s components also include assisting children in accessing their fundamental rights, meeting their protection needs and ensuring their access to their right to education by referring them to appropriate education opportunities by way of collaborating with other ASAM projects.
Within the scope of the Program, computer labs with access to MoNE’s online platforms are being installed to foster children’s science, technology and analytical thinking skills in line with the MoNE curriculum. The Program provides Ukrainian children in Antalya province with access to the massive open online courses (MOOC) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science.
