In recognition of their search and rescue operations and humanitarian aid efforts in Hatay, the ASAM Canine Search and Rescue Team was awarded the “State Medal and Order of Supreme Sacrifice of the Republic of Türkiye” by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

Nevide Öcal, the 44-year-old earthquake survivor mother of 4 children, employed in the Hatay Samandağ Soup Kitchen as part of the WFP (United Nations World Food Programme) Early Recovery by SES (Socioeconomic Empowerment and Sustainability) Project, is able to improve her family’s living conditions.
Going through a difficult period due to the health problems she and her family are suffering from, Aysel Çağlar is among those most affected by the devastation the earthquake caused. Çağlar, who already lost 2 of her 5 children before the earthquake, is going through hard times with her 3 children and her husband after the earthquake.
Kemal Ateş, one of the earthquake survivors, finally reunited with ASAM Search and Rescue Team members, who had pulled him from under the rubble, in Ankara after months.
In the “Press Photos of the Year 2023” competition organized by the Photojournalists Association of Türkiye (TFMD) for the 38th time this year, Murat Şaka from Hürriyet Newspaper won the Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants (ASAM) Special Award with his photograph depicting those who had to flee their country due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

As part of our efforts to expand our humanitarian aid activities, we celebrated the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day at our compound formed in Eczacı Meryem Karaçaylı Primary School in Samandağ district of Hatay with the participation of hundreds of children. Enjoying the day, the children had a wonderful time on the obstacle course specially built for them.
An acquaintance meeting was held with the first scholarship recipients of ASAM Academy on Migration Graduate Thesis Research Support Program.
