Provision of Support to Search & Rescue Operations and Humanitarian Assistance Project

Implemented in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the “Provision of Support to Search & Rescue Operations and Humanitarian Assistance Project” aspires to distribute humanitarian aid items, especially to vulnerable earthquake survivors identified through search and rescue efforts as well as needs analysis works performed in disaster areas after the devastating earthquakes that hit the country.

In this connection, blankets, coats, food, baby diapers and hygiene materials are delivered to those in need.

With the collaboration of GIZ, which rapidly provided ASAM Canine Search and Rescue Team with the equipment used in rubble works in the first weeks of the earthquakes, not only are needs analyses performed and relief items distributed to earthquake survivors but also accommodation, logistics, transportation and basic necessities are provided for ASAM staff dispatched to the compounds established in the region.

As part of the Project, where needs assessments are directly conducted in the provinces of Adana, Adıyaman, Malatya and Şanlıurfa, the distribution of relief items is carried out in solidarity with local NGOs that are stakeholders of the Community-Based Local Initiatives Project (CLIP 2).

In the project provinces, works are carried out under the coordination of public institutions, particularly the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and relevant municipalities, in villages and towns that are difficult to reach and are outside the central settlement areas. Works continue in Malatya’s districts of Doğanşehir and Akçakale, which have been heavily affected by the earthquakes, and in Adıyaman’s remote villages such as Hangarlı and Yaylakonak.
