Refugee Protection, Community Outreach and Solutions in Urban Areas Project (earthquake)

The “Refugee Protection, Community Outreach, and Solutions in Urban Areas Project” is being implemented in partnership with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Following the earthquake that occurred on 6 February 2023 in the epicenter of Kahramanmaraş, the Project, having its scope extended, began providing protection services to those affected by the earthquake.

As part of the Project, the protection needs of earthquake survivors are assessed in Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, and Şanlıurfa provinces, and necessary referrals are provided through counseling services. Moreover, protection services for earthquake survivors are extended through field offices operating in areas outside the earthquake-affected region. This effort ensures outreach to earthquake survivors in need through 27 ASAM Representative Offices.

The Project offers legal and social counseling, health counseling, and psychosocial support, in addition to needs analyses for earthquake survivors with specific needs and addressing identified needs. The Project components also include organizing informative sessions and conducting activities for community empowerment.
